About Cougs 4 Kids
Cougs 4 Kids, an initiative of Believe in Me, harnesses the passion of Washington State University alumni, student-athletes, and volunteers to uplift marginalized youth across Washington State. Our camps, mentorship, college-readiness training, and leadership programs foster confidence, character, and community.
Core Responsibilities
- Plan and execute program activities against clear timelines, goals, and success measures.
- Coordinate volunteers, schedules, budgets when applicable, supplies, and logistics.
- Communicate regularly with Believe in Me staff, partners, and fellow volunteers.
- Monitor participation, outcomes, and program metrics; provide concise progress reports.
- Identify risks, solve problems, and remove barriers to participation.
- Create a welcoming, inclusive, youth-centered program culture.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong project-management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience motivating teams and leading by example.
- Clear written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.
- Experience in youth programming, education, coaching, mentoring, events, or nonprofit work is preferred.
- Comfort using Google Workspace, Zoom, and project-management tools such as Trello or Asana.
- Availability for occasional evening or weekend activities.
Volunteer Requirements
- Commit to active participation for at least one year and a minimum of 10 hours per month.
- Complete orientation, a background check, and required youth-safety steps.
- Hold a valid driver’s license and be available for occasional program travel.
- Complete training in trauma-informed practices, cultural sensitivity, resilient youth development, DEI, and mentorship.
