Volunteer Mentoring With Cougs 4 Kids

Cougs 4 Kids invites WSU students, alumni, and Cougar-connected volunteers to express interest in mentoring Washington students and young people ages 13-18. Mentors serve as volunteers, complete required onboarding before youth contact, and help young people build confidence, belonging, and future-ready skills.

Prepared Mentors

Volunteer mentors bring encouragement, consistency, and lived experience. Through Cougs 4 Kids, they help students practice goal-setting, teamwork, problem-solving, and confidence while staying grounded in clear program expectations and youth-safety steps.

Campus and Community

Mentoring works best when schools, nonprofits, families, donors, alumni, and volunteers move in the same direction. Cougs 4 Kids is building that site-by-site network with careful coordination, role clarity, and clear follow-up.

Future Planning

Mentors do not need to have every answer. Their role is to listen, encourage, model follow-through, and connect students to practical next-step resources like Camp Coug, MentorBoost Kits, and the Resource Hub.

Become a Volunteer Mentor

Becoming a volunteer mentor starts with a simple interest form. After that, the Cougs 4 Kids team follows up about fit, timing, onboarding, screening, training, and the next available opportunity before any youth contact begins.
