Volunteer Role Overview
This role is built for a leader who loves connecting vision to execution. You’ll ensure the Development & Marketing function operates as one integrated growth engine—aligning messaging, donor journeys, content strategy, and the systems that power them.
Who you’ll work with

Key Responsibilities
1) Strategic Leadership & Oversight
- Lead and coordinate the work of four pods: Fundraising, Marketing & Outreach, Engagement & Experience, and Technology & Digital Tools.
- Develop annual and quarterly goals for the Development & Marketing team aligned to organizational priorities.
- Set the roadmap for storytelling, awareness-building, fundraising campaigns, and platform optimization.
2) Fundraising & Campaign Coordination
- Support the Fundraising & Sponsorships Director in designing and executing giving campaigns, donor cultivation journeys, and sponsor stewardship.
- Ensure fundraising initiatives are powered by clear messaging, compelling storytelling, and reliable tech infrastructure.
- Track performance metrics and continuously improve acquisition, retention, and engagement strategies.
3) Cross-Platform Marketing & Storytelling
- Oversee annual content calendars, brand assets, email campaigns, and social schedules in coordination with the Marketing & Outreach Director.
- Ensure youth, family, and donor stories are captured, elevated, and repurposed across digital and offline channels.
- Maintain brand consistency across pods and organizational communications.
4) User Experience & Digital Engagement
- Collaborate with the Digital Experience & Engagement Director to refine participant and donor journeys (onboarding, registration, event follow-up).
- Identify opportunities to create more frictionless, joyful, and inclusive digital experiences.
- Use analytics and feedback to improve how people interact with the brand.
5) Technology Infrastructure & Data Alignment
- Partner with the Technology & Digital Tools Director to ensure fundraising and engagement platforms are reliable, integrated, and accessible.
- Maintain clean and secure donor and volunteer data practices.
- Implement automation tools that improve campaign performance and team efficiency.
6) Team Management & Culture
- Host biweekly Development & Marketing Team meetings to align goals, share wins, and remove blockers.
- Coach and develop team leads with clear accountability and collaborative tools (Google Workspace, Notion, Slack, Airtable, etc.).
- Foster a culture of equity, experimentation, and learning.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in nonprofit marketing, fundraising, or digital strategy leadership.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional creative and technical teams.
- Strong project management and campaign planning skills.
- Familiarity with CRMs, donation platforms, analytics (e.g., Google Analytics), and email marketing software.
- Deep commitment to equitable storytelling and inclusive engagement practices.
